Ebony E. White, PhD, LPC, NCC, ASC - Assistant Clinical Professor, Program Director - Master in Addictions Counseling, Counseling & Family Therapy Department - Drexel University 

Dr. Ebony White is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Counseling and Family Therapy Department at Drexel University. She has devoted her career to supporting under-resourced, under-served, culturally rich and determined individuals, families, and communities. She has been quoted in news outlets including the Philadelphia Inquirer and the New York Times and has been a guest expert on CBS News and Fox 29 News in Philadelphia. She has done work in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti, Gombe State, Nigeria, and Tarkwa, Ghana. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and gave a TEDx talk, titled “You Don’t Get to Name Me.” She has received multiple awards including the Dr. Judy Lewis Counselor for Social Justice award from the American Counseling Association. Most importantly, she is a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, godmother, and niece. She lives by Ubuntu, “I am because we are, and because we are, I am.”

Sarah Wenger, PT, DPT, OCS, FNAP - Dr. Wenger has been a professor at Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions since 2007. She is the physical therapist at Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services, an interprofessional community-based federally qualified health center where she provides pro bono services 2 days a week. Dr. Wenger enjoys working with chronic biopsychosocial dynamics and teaching students how to care for patients with complex needs. Her treatment focuses on patient education and building self-efficacy to support and empower patients to manage their chronic conditions as independently as possible. As part of an interprofessional team, Dr. Wenger developed a chronic pain clinical reasoning model and psycho-education program. Dr. Wenger has published and presented on a range of topics related to her clinical and academic areas of expertise in chronic pain, populations who are under resourced, clinical reasoning, and interprofessional care and education. 


Description: In this talk, Drs. Wenger and White discuss supporting adolescents and young adults who reside in under-resourced communities through collaborative practice. Using an anti-racist, trauma-informed lens, they discuss the unique needs of this population, as well as the why, when, and how of collaboration, including the benefits to practice.

Jordan Cunningham

An Ocean Away: Traveling the World For Integrated Healthcare

Jordan Cunningham, LCSW - Outpatient Primary Care Social Worker, Nemours Children's Hospital

Jordan Cunningham is a licensed clinical social worker, currently employed at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware as an outpatient primary care social worker. Prior to outpatient work, she worked as an inpatient medical social worker and as a behavioral consultant in Exton, Pennsylvania. She is a long term resident of West Chester, graduating with her Master’s Degree in social work from West Chester University in 2019. During that time, She was awarded an EPIC Grant stipend and completed multiple trainings and classes related to the grant. "This grant prepared me for the role I would take on in the integrated care setting in the healthcare environment."

Description:   This presentation describes and discusses the case example of patient, Leah, who travels from her home in Jamaica to the United States for expedited and exceptional care following a failed liver and need for transplant. Learn about Leah’s integrated care team during her complicated journey at the hospital, traveling to and from home to the United States. This presentation dives into the research behind integrated care and how much it impacts quality patient care in the healthcare setting.

BENT NOT BROKEN: PERSEVERANCE, RESILIENCE, AND COLLABORATION

Christen Bradbury, CTRS, CCLS - Board Certified Recreational Therapist, Child Life Specialist -

Christen Bradbury spent her formative years in England, Brazil, and South Africa, and returned to the US to attend Ithaca College where she graduated with a degree in Recreation Therapy. During her career, she has worked in stroke/TBI, pediatric behavioral psych, special education, pediatric burn care, international disaster relief, management, clinical research, program development, and international clinical supervision. Christen currently provides domestic and international consultancy services with the main objectives of providing large-scale advocacy for children and vulnerable populations through the development and implementation of innovative and culturally aware programming, curricula, and resources.


Charelle Elena Chauntee Lockhart, MD  - Diplomate of The American Board of Pediatrics  - Dr. Charelle Lockhart was born on the beautiful Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. Dr. Lockhart obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors from the University of Western Ontario in 1998, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the University of the West Indies in 2003. After graduating from the University of the West Indies, Dr. Lockhart completed her internship at The Princess Margaret Hospital. It was her desire to specialize in Pediatric medicine that propelled her to complete a residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami/Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami Florida, where she was trained in the area of General Pediatrics. Today, Dr. Lockhart serves as a Pediatric Consultant at The Princess Margaret Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Room, where she is responsible for teaching and mentoring Medical Students, Interns and Residents. Dr. Lockhart practices primary care and specializes in newborn circumcision. She is the mother of one teenage daughter and hobbies include reading and travel. Taking care of children is her passion and Disaster relief 'fell into her lap' as she was in the right place at the right time.


Description:  In this presentation, we will take you through first-hand experiences of disaster relief responders for Hurricane Dorian from preparation through the storm, and the aftermath to the current state of affairs. Our stories will reflect on collaborative clinical efforts, both medical and psychosocial, aimed at supporting the complex needs of children and families. We will include statistics from Hurricane Dorian; best practices for trauma informed care in children; the development and evolution of relief efforts (by both locals and international organizations); cultural considerations; objectives of services and supports provided; self-care; and the remaining challenges affecting communities in the Bahamas. We look forward to your questions and meaningful discussion.

Pennsylvania: Two (2) CE credits will be awarded to participants who attend the entire session live. WCU has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional Continuing Education (Section 47.36 (a)(1)) for LSW and LCSW social workers (Section 48.36(a)(1)) for LMFT, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, and (Section 49.23(a)(1)) for LPC, Licensed Professional Counselors by the PA State Board of Social Workers Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors in the state of Pennsylvania. Other participants may request a Certificate of Attendance, if desired. Pre-tests, Post-tests, and the CEU/Certificate of Attendance Request Forms must be completed before certificates can be issued.  

Delaware: WCU is not state-approved to offer CEs for Delaware licensees, but EPIC Trainings may qualify and attendees may request a Certificate of Attendance.
