7-Night Guided Self-Drive Tour Rates & Dates
2025
Day 1
We depart Upington at 8 am after meeting at Upington Airport. We travel a mere 50 km North on the R360 and stop at the Kalahari Guesthouse and Farmstall for a hearty breakfast prepared by our hosts. Don't forget to stock up on some of their delicious Kalahari Kudu biltong & droëwors from their well- stocked Farmstall before you leave. After our fill of breakfast, we continue onto the Goerapan Lodge & Private Game farm, situated another 50 km north where we enjoy a day in the dunes. We also stop off at the bar for lunch in between. We enjoy dinner and a few Sundowner drinks from their well-stocked bar afterwards, overlooking the Goerapan and retiring to our comfortable Lodge & Camping Accommodations.
Day 2
After another full breakfast at the lodge, we drive a further 100 km northwest, following the R360 and turning off onto a gravel road towards Inkbospan and our next destination for the night, Zoutpansput Private Game Farm & Lodge. After a cooked lunch, we head out on a 4x4 Game Drive and enjoy a sundowner or two on the dunes. (Own Drinks) After our game drive, we enjoy a "lekker braai" (BBQ) and enjoy the silence & hospitality of the Kalahari before we retire to our lodge & camping accommodations for the night.
Day 3
After an early breakfast, we head over to the Koppies Kraal Camel Dairy Farm for a morning filled with a camel milking experience. After our Camel milking tour, we head to our next overnight stop at the Molopo Lodge and enjoy lunch and relax for the afternoon at the Bar & Pool. Later in the evening, we head over to the Erin Game Farm for our next activity which involves the Khomani San People of the Kalahari. We Enjoy an evening with the San teaching us their hunter, gatherer skills in the dunes and later we sit down to a traditional dinner cooked by Aunt Koera in her famous "Aunt Koera's Kitchen". Afterwards, we return to the Molopo Lodge and retire to our beautifully decorated Rondavel or Camping accommodations for the night..
Day 4
After breakfast at Molopo Lodge Restaurant, we take a short drive to the Askham village for a cultural walk about town and enjoy a morning cappuccino from the Diamond T- Coffee Shop. After Askham, we travel further north, 50 km on the R360 and check into our next accommodation facilities at the Kgalagadi Lifestyle Lodge Situated 5km from the Kgalagadi Park's entrance. The Lodge is a luxurious, one-stop destination in the Kalahari where desert haven meets modern wilderness. We enjoy lunch at their Black Maned Restaurant and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing. Enjoy a stroll into the dunes with a drink in hand while watching the sunset over the magnificent Kalahari or spend some free time at their stunning pool. Later we relish in a hearty meal from the Black-Maned Restaurant and retire to our luxurious chalets or camping facilities.
Day 5
Early breakfast at the Lodge before we depart for the world-famous Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Game Park, a mere 5km further north from the lodge. After check-in we travel north within the park towards Mata-Mata and enjoy the splendours of what the park has to offer. For lunch, we stop off at a designated picnic spot within the park. (Please note, the picnic spot is not fenced, and wild animals do wander within) After lunch, we continue our game viewing and hopefully spot some predators. After a full day of game viewing, we exit the park and take a short drive to the Dreghorn Game Farm & Lodge, situated on the Border between Botswana & South Africa. We check into our luxury Hut-style chalets set amongst the red Kalahari sands and shady camel thorn trees, each with its own toilet and shower facilities. Later we laze by the pool until later in the afternoon when we take a guided drive to watch the sunset over the stunning red dunes, don't forget to bring along your drinks. After dinner, we retire to our lodge accommodation or camping facilities.
Day 6
After breakfast at the Dreghorn bar we enjoy a full day of game driving in the dunes over
sandy tracks. (Note: this is not extreme 4x4 driving) We return to the lodge for lunch and later enjoy a
stunning show of vultures feeding off a animal carcass at the Vulture Restaurant and then, later still, we enjoy
another sunset on the dunes accompanied by canapes and drinks. (Supplied)
After dinner, we retire
to our comfortable accommodations for the night.
Day 7
After enjoying a lovely, cooked breakfast, we depart Dreghorn and head over to Winkelhaak Pan and Private Game Lodge, back in the direction of Upington, where we arrive just in time to enjoy lunch on the deck of the lodge, overlooking the stunning dry salt pan
After lunch, we are guided on a game-viewing excursion and enjoy another fabulous final sunset on the dunes. And later in the evening, we enjoy a traditionally cooked dinner and retire to our designate lodge and camping accommodations.
Day 8
We enjoy a final cooked breakfast at Winkelhaak Lodge and head back to Upington but not before we
stop off at the Kalahari Farmstall one last time to stock up on some much-needed biltong.
At
Upington, we depart our ways until we meet again next time.
