Our research aims to understand and engineer electrochemical interfaces by bridging chemistry, mechanics, and processing, advancing next-generation energy storage technologies.
We focus on controlling interfacial phenomena in batteries through integrated approaches spanning electrolyte chemistry, system mechanics, and surface engineering. Electrochemical interfaces govern the performance, safety, and lifetime of energy storage systems. Our goal is to understand and control interphase formation and evolution, providing a unified framework for engineering electrochemical interfaces across a wide range of energy storage technologies.
We design electrolytes and investigate solvation structures to control interphase formation (SEI/CEI) in lithium and sodium-based batteries.
We study the role of pressure and cell-level conditions in governing interfacial contact, safety, and electrochemical performance.
We utilize vapor-phase techniques such as atomic layer deposition (ALD) to precisely engineer artificial interphases and stabilize electrochemical interfaces.
