Hi Everyone - This website was created in June (2025) to provide access to analytic tools for use by epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and others. Please feel free to suggest other resources.
About Kevin S.:
I have decades of experience working and teaching in the field of epidemiology with over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, three books, and many other publications/documents. My work experience has been at many levels of public health, from local to international agencies. While at the Ohio Department of Health, I worked with county and city health departments, followed by employment at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. I have performed consultancies for international organizations (e.g., WHO, UNICEF) at the headquarter, regional, and country-level offices, as well as with bilateral organizations (e.g., USAID) and Ministries of Health.
The areas in which I have worked include vaccine-preventable diseases, infectious diseases, anthropometry, and micronutrients. I have been involved with the design, implementation, analysis and reporting of many national and subnational cross-sectional surveys, including UNICEF Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) and a number of national nutrition/micronutrient surveys supported by CDC.
I have taught graduate-level epidemiology courses from introductory to advanced levels as well as courses on the use of statistical and epidemiological software. For introductory and intermediate-level courses, I used the textbook I co-authored, ActivEpi. I have had extensive experience using and teaching SAS, SPSS, Stata, Epi Info, and OpenEpi. Additionally, I have been involved in the development of a variety of computer programs, including Epi Info and OpenEpi. Throughout my teaching career I had many funded research projects.
My publications reflect my extensive experiences collaborating with others as much of the research required contributions from individuals with different areas of expertise. I am a team player and value the opportunity to work with others.
I am available for consultancies and contract work.
