EPANET is an industry-standard software package for modeling water distribution systems. It simulates the hydraulic and water quality behavior of a pressurized pipe network over an extended period of time. EPANET-UI is an open source cross-platform graphical user interface for EPANET's simulation engineĀ
A water distribution network consists of pipes, nodes (pipe junctions), pumps, valves and storage tanks or reservoirs. EPANET-UI tracks the flow rate of water in each pipe, the pressure at each node, the height of water in each tank, and the concentration of chemical species throughout the network during a multi-time period simulation. In addition to chemical species, water age and source tracing can also be simulated.
EPANET-UI allows users to visually design a pipe network, edit its properties, run a simulation, and view the results in a variety of formats.
EPANET-UI offers users a modern and simple interface design. Here are some of its most significant features:
can run on Windows, Linux and MacOS
uses the latest OWA EPANET engine (v2.3) that can model pressure dependent demands and FAVAD pipe leakage
has full support for EPANET's multi-species water quality (MSX) extension
can import data from GIS shapefiles, DXF CAD files, and CSV text files
can use web mapping services to provide dynamic background basemaps
has multiple reporting options for simulation results, including energy audits, variability plots, and fire flow analysis
provides context-sensitive help and comes with a User Manual and a Tutorial.
