EP&AG TUTORING

About Our Services:

Welcome to EP&AG Tutoring. We are very excited that you have come to visit our website! We understand that it is hard being cooped up all day inside and younger kids are always looking for something to do, so our online tutoring service on Zoom will be a fun and interactive experience for them. We will make every effort to make it something that your kids will look forward to.

Before your child's first class, we will ask you and your child each to fill out a quick questionnaire that we have linked above as well as in the "Helpful Links" tab in the top right corner of the page. After we receive your responses, we will work together to plan out a custom schedule for your child which lists the hours, days of the week, and subject(s) we plan to cover with them. We plan to offer both individual and group lessons based on the results from the questionnaire and the numbers of kids who have enrolled. Since there are two of us providing this service, your child will have 1-2 teachers depending on the number of kids in the class.

We offer our tutoring service for a variety of subjects such as social studies, science, math, reading, and writing. We will operate five days a week for eight hours each day for students in grades K-5. We are very flexible, and understand that each child learns differently. For this reason, we will incorporate a variety of activities into our lesson plans such as worksheets, videos, presentations, and fun educational games. We will provide the one on one attention that young students need but do not always receive. We will take the curriculum that they need from local elementary schools to help reinforce concepts they have previously learned or introduce new ones and prepare them for the upcoming school year.

To encourage our students to be passionate about learning, we will reach out to them as often as possible. To accomplish this, we will primarily use the platform Google Classroom and email if needed. Ideally, we will post on Google Classroom additional practice for the students to complete before their next lesson, while this is completely optional and should not take more than 15-20 minutes a week, we encourage each student to try it.

We understand that it will not be possible to jump right into lessons without first getting to know each child individually. For this reason, we will provide to each student a free 15-minute introduction class where we introduce ourselves and get to know your child better.

We hope that you reach out to us with any questions, comments, or concerns and we will address them as soon as possible. Email us at ep.ag.tutoring@gmail.com. We hope to meet you soon!

About Eva and Ava:

Our names are Eva Passer and Ava Glavine, we are rising juniors at Lexington High School, we have always valued our education and want to use our experiences to benefit those around us. During this time in quarantine, we have had a lot of time to think and reflect on our plans. We concluded that starting a virtual tutoring business would be the best way for us to achieve our goals.

As we mentioned, we value our education and throughout our lives, we have always worked very hard in school and achieved good results as a product of our perseverance. As sophomores, we took a semester class together titled "Entrepreneurial Economics". We were able to learn the basics of starting and running a small business and what is required of the entrepreneurs to become successful. We believe that this class gave us the knowledge and insight we needed to start and run a business on our own.

We both are three-season athletes who not only manage school and sports during the school year but also other extracurriculars such as clubs. Along with the responsibility of having to manage school, sports, and extracurriculars on our own, we have learned the life skill of building a balanced schedule so that we can be successful in both our school and personal lives. Throughout our high school career thus far, it has been extremely important to create a healthy lifestyle for ourselves while also being able to spend time with our family and friends. This independence and responsibility has come with great challenges that we have learned to overcome.

We both have younger siblings in grades K-5 and we have worked independently with them to help them achieve academic success. Dealing with the current challenges of remote learning, we have both set aside time each day to help our younger siblings with their assignments. Although this is our first time working as tutors with non-family members, we have had substantial experience working with younger children in the past. We both have babysat regularly for younger children and volunteered as camp counselors for the Lexington recreation center over the summer.
