FALL 2025 – Teacher Guide: Hour of Code & 3D Print Design 

Location: EPA Center 

 Time: Mondays, 4:30–6:30 PM

📅 Weekly Plan Overview:

Week 1: Welcome + Explore

• Introduce Scratch, Tinkercad, and Hour of Code

• One Hour Can Make The Invisible Visible

• Open station time (choice or rotation)
  
  

• Goal: Familiarity with platforms + excitement building
  
  

Week 2: Scratch Challenge + Simple 3D Build

• Scratch: Make a character dance and talk
  
  

• Tinkercad: Design a custom keychain
  
  

• Hour of Code: Complete 4 levels minimum
  
  

• Goal: Complete a simple project on two platforms
  
  

Week 3: Mini-Games & 3D World Building

• Scratch: Make a basic mini-game (Catch the Ball or Maze)
  
  

• Tinkercad: Build a simple 3D city or robot
  
  

• Hour of Code: Try a new puzzle set (Minecraft or Frozen)
  
  

• Goal: Introduce "events" and 3D scenes
  
  

Week 4: Coding + 3D Combo Project

• Students create a character in Scratch and model it in 3D
  
  

• Integrate storytelling between both platforms
  
  

• Goal: Merge coding and design
  
  

Week 5: Game Remix Week

• Students remix an existing Scratch game (change theme, characters)
  
  

• 3D Model: Remix an existing model in Tinkercad
  
  

• Goal: Encourage creativity through remixing
  
  

Week 6: Hour of Code Certification Push

• Students work on completing a full Hour of Code course
  
  

• Print or award certificates for finishers
  
  

• Goal: Certification Achievement Day
  
  

Week 7: Final Project Planning

• Students choose between making a final:
  
  

  • Scratch game
    
    

  • 3D print model
    
    

  • Hour of Code challenge
    
    

• Begin final projects
  
  

• Goal: Plan and start building major project
  
  

Week 8: Showcase Day!

• Students finish and present final projects
  
  

• Optional mini-exhibit for parents
  
  

• Celebrate with awards/stickers/certificates
  
  

• Goal: Celebrate student success!
