emerging pollutants analysis

Emerging Pollutant & Analysis (EPA) Laboratory, led by Professor Junho Jeon, focuses on the analysis and evaluation of various emerging substances present in the environment. Newly occurring pollutants will always exist, and finding and evaluating them is a fate for us. Transformation products of organic pollutants formed via physical/chemical/biological activities and their formation mechanisms are also of interesting themes. In order to find a variety of emerging substances in trace amounts, high-precision analytical studies are being conducted using an LC-based high-resolution mass spectrometer(LC-HRMS). In particular, efforts are being made to find unrecognized/unknown contaminants by using suspect and non-target screening methods. Based on the obtained chemical and exposure information, we also conduct environmental risk assessments and suggest quality criteria to protect threatened environment by chemical exposures.
