Eolas Pellor (a pen name) began writing fiction seriously in 2023, as a way to deal with depression. His first published fiction appeared in February of 2024. His published works include “What Kind of a name is Nuckelavee,” “By the Cherry Tree,” and “The Fiddle.”
Most of his material is historical fiction, or historical fantasy, sometimes with a supernatural element.
The novel boy was written between April and June, 2024. A soft science fiction story, it examines themes of gender roles, identity, cultural expectations and prejudice. It is the story of a young male, who lives in a world where males are considered little more than animals, to breed and die young. At the present time, it’s a manuscript seeking an agent or publisher.
Eolas is a retired educator, and former journalist and editor. He began teaching at Cardinal Stritch College in Wisconsin, before becoming a high school teacher. He taught a wide range of subjects, including visual art, world religions, philosophy, history, Latin, English, law, and economics.
He was asked by the Ministry of Education (Ontario) to write curriculum for the world religions courses on two separate occasions, and cut short his honeymoon to take on the design of an extra course, on the first occasion.
Prior to teaching, he was a journalist and editor, working on a variety of weekly papers in Southern and Central Ontario, and freelancing for the Toronto Star. He has degrees in Political Science, Art History, and Education.
He is the father of two.
