SCHOOL SAFTY

Can you spare a bit of time to help keep our school zone safe?
- If you’re able to help put our radar speed signs out and bring them in, even just one day a month in the new year, we’d love to hear from you. We see a noticeable improvement in driver behaviour when the signs are out.

HOT LUNCH

Ordering is available through munchalunch (see below for more details on MunchaLunch)
Ordering deadline: 11:59 pm the week before each hot lunch. For example: the first hot lunch is on September 25, so orders must be placed by September 18 at 11:59 pm.
Contact us: If you need to reach the Hot Lunch Team, please email eoespachotlunch@gmail.com
- If your child is absent on hot lunch day, you can email the Hot Lunch team or contact the school office to have their meal sent to the office for pickup.
Food Support: If your family needs support with food or school fees, please reach out to our principal, Ms. Nichols. Our school also has a lunch program, bagel cafe, snacks in the office and can refer families to the Hands and Hearts Food Program (formerly known as the Backpack Program).
A big thank you to our Hot Lunch Team who put in a lot of work to make this happen for our school.

BAGEL CAFE

We lowered the cost of Bagel Cards because there are fewer Bagel Café days left this year. They are now $22 per card for January to June.
What is Bagel Cafe?
- Our amazing parent volunteers serve warm toasted bagels with margarine, cream cheese, or jam to help start the day off right.
- To get a bagel, students need a Bagel Card.
Bagel Cards
- Bagel cards are now $22 per card and can be used for the rest of the school year (January to June) when Bagel Cafe is open.
- There is a family cap of two cards. If you have more than two children, please sign up two children on munchalunch and then email us at eoespac69@gmail.com to request cards for additional students at no cost.
- Bagel cards are available through munchalunch
Food Support
- If your family needs support with food or school fees, please reach out to our principal, Ms. Nichols. Our school can provide free bagel cards, has a lunch program, snacks in the office and can refer families to the Hands and Hearts Food Program (formerly known as the Backpack Program).
Serving Details
- Location: Multipurpose Room (MPR), to the left of the front entrance.
- Time: 8:30–8:55 am
- Late Arrivals: A few bagels will be left in the office for kids who arrive late.

FAMILY GUIDE: ADDRESSING CONCERNS

The Qualicum School District PAC (DPAC) has created the Family Guide: Addressing Concerns to help families navigate the process to address and resolve concerns in our school district.
The Family Guide outlines:
- Steps for raising and addressing concerns,
- Explains where to go next if issues remain unresolved or outcomes are unsatisfactory, and
- Provides information on where families can go when concerns can not be resolved or outcomes are unsatisfactory at the district level.
Although most concerns can often be resolved at the lowest possible level (usually with the classroom teacher), DPAC also wanted to provide information on the steps for escalating concerns when needed.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK TO VOLUNTEER

If you want to volunteer with PAC or with your child’s class you will need to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC).
The CRC is valid for 5 years.
To complete a Criminal Record Check or to check if your CRC is still valid, email the school at Oceanside@sd69.bc.ca to get the online link and code.
Common Question: I just had a criminal record check done for another organization or for work, can I use that one for the school?
- Answer: Unfortunately not, you must have one completed specifically for our school.

We are using a platform called MunchaLunch for ordering hot lunches, Bagel Cards and to support other PAC fundraisers.

MABEL'S LABELS - FUNDRAISER

Our Mabel's Labels fundraiser can help you save time and effort searching for lost items and help us raise funds for our school! Win-win!
Go to Mabelslabels.com -> click on Support a Fundraiser -> select Ecole Oceanside Elementary School.
If you're not familiar with Mabel's Labels, they are personalized, durable, waterproof labels. They are great for everything from shoes, clothing tags, water bottles and backpacks. You can customize them with your name and design, and they are dishwasher, laundry and microwave safe. Mabel's Labels also offers clothing stamps, silicone bands for water bottles and medical alert labels.

FLAMINGOS FOR HIRE

Have a special occasion that deserves a flock of pink flamingos?
We have a flock of 29 pink plastic lawn flamingos available to borrow with a donation (recommended donation is $40).
To hire the flock, send us an email at eoespac69@gmail.com with your name, address, phone number and the date you would like to pick them up and return them. Happy Flocking!

YOU OTTER KNOW (YOK) NEWSLETTER

Our Principal, Ms. Jen Nichols will be sending a YOK each Friday (if you sign up) and posting them on the school website.
If you want to receive school newsletters, please sign up on the school website. Black box at the bottom of the homepage.
Due to legislation requirements, parents/caregivers need to opt in to receive newsletters.

School Messenger App

EOES is asking parents/guardians to use SafeArrival on the School Messenger app to report student absences. Click HERE to download.
