Intermediates - Yr 4+

In this level we have Tap, separate classes for Jazz & Hip Hop and introduce a combined Lyrical & Contemporary class.

Tap is as much a form of percussion as it is a dance genre. Building on technique from younger grades, but still welcoming beginners of this age. This class will provide students with an understanding of tap and hopefully show them the infectious joy tap can bring. 

Jazz is a high energy class where you can have lots of fun learning a variety of jazz dance styles. In this class we dance to a wide range of music including Pop, Broadway and Old School tracks.  Although with a traditional jazz foundation, the styles have various influences including funk and theatre.  Students learn techniques such as how to kick, turn and jump, plus find their own groove! 

Hip Hop begins with an easy-to-follow series of warmup moves, followed by stretching and working on a fun routine weekly set to popular music. The class also uses simple progressions and break down of various steps. This gives students the chance to learn great dance moves, develop a funky dance style and boost confidence.

Lyrical/Contemporary is a fusion of classical ballet and modern expression. Using a combination of ballet and jazz movements, students will increase their balance and coordination whilst developing the ability to move through movement and music at a slower pace. Routines are often themed to help with the expression through the dance and song.
