Chalk pastel study. With this piece, I wanted to simultaneously continue my exploring with clowns as a central motif in my body of work and my venture into chalk pastels.

"Masks"
"Masks" attempts to vocalize society's conditioning of people to conceal their negative emotions in the face of adversity and strife. The clown motif symbolizes this emotional silence. The shirtless, humane subject in the foreground represents the nonchalant personas that individuals adopt daily to avoid burdening society.
