Kgalagadi Conservatory

The community of animals at Kgalgadi is very diverse and captivating.

Why is Kgalagadi different from the other?

The Kgalagadi park is drastically different from other parks because with the red sand dunes and sparse vegetation, there are lots of animals to spot. The openness of the land makes it able to see miles deep and easily spot animals. Also, with the lack of tall grass animals are very easy to spot and snap a picture of. When there are summer thunderstorms you can see a beautiful backdrop to the flat land. Kgalagadi has lots open space, so photographers can snap pictures of lions catching their food or springbok walking around the plains. I encourage coming to visit the animals at Kgalagadi because with the beautiful animals it is a very unforgettable trip to drive up the very difficult gravel roads. Kgalagadi stands for, " land of thirst " so come and visit this park and don't forget to bring a water bottle!

How are we Unique?

When you go to a park you see the same thing every time, animals playing, eating, fighting. At Kgalagadi, our animals have a great system on how to keep a balanced community while interacting with other animals. Kgalagadi is best known for its desert-adapted mammals, birds, and reptiles. In the summer, the temperature climbs up to 40 degrees celsius and sometimes higher. The animal rainfall rarely reaches 100 mm and sometimes stays below 50 mm. This time of year is show the iconic Kgalagadi thunderstorms. Kgalagadi is different from California parks because our animals are well adapted to our desert climate and sparse sources of water and food. With our animals ranging from Lions to Fox capes, our community si friendly and enjoyable to watch.
