NHS operates on an hour-based system. Events will be of standardized sizes (Ex: 1 hour, 30 min), and we will track hours completed. We have 2 categories of hours: Teacher's Assistant and Service hours.
Service Hours: You must earn at least 15 service hours per semester, of which there may be a maximum of 5 outside hours and 2 hours from donation events.
Teacher's Assistant (TA) Hours: You must earn at least 6 TA hours throughout the year. 2 of these hours must be completed before the end of Semester 1, and the remaining 4 must be completed by the end of Semester 2.
Service hours include all other forms of volunteer work besides TA work. Members must fulfill the requirements detailed above.
Inside Hours:
Hours performed at NHS-sponsored events.
Events are posted on HostedGroups.
To receive credit for inside hours:
Register for the event on HostedGroups beforehand.
Follow the instructions in the event description.
Submit the Service Hours form with proof for review
New members:
Will be instructed to join HostedGroups in September.
A video will be embedded for anyone new to HostedGroups.
Outside Hours:
Hours performed at events unaffiliated with NHS.
These are volunteer opportunities you have found yourself, and are not posted on HostedGroups.
Hours performed during the summer can be submitted as outside hours for Semester 1 only.
For the 2025-2026 year, in order to submit outside hours:
Fill out the outside hours form.
Get it signed by a chaperone/volunteer coordinator.
Submit a picture or copy of the document to the hours Google Form.
All hours will use this form.
Submit multiple times for different opportunities.
