Enloe National Honors Society
The NHS Board is pleased to welcome you to the National Honor Society Enloe Chapter. You have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character to earn your membership. We commend you for your achievement and recognition.
If you were not accepted into NHS for the 2023-24 school year and would like to appeal the decision, please carefully read the following information regarding the appeal process.
Appeal Process
If you met ALL following requirements, you may choose to complete the appeal process:
Submitted a completed application by 3:00 PM on the due date, October 24th, 2023, to the NHS advisor Ms. Williamson or Mr. Fuss.
Did not have an incomplete application. An incomplete application includes, but is not limited to, missing supervisor signatures, missing student initials OR signatures, missing parent signatures, missing or unclear written explanations for any activity, missing or unclear essays, etc..
Did not go against any specific directions laid out in the application ( examples, but not limited to just these: insufficient hour counts, an unofficial leadership position, stand alone activities).
Finally, although you will be given the opportunity to appeal and present your case to the Faculty Council, please understand it is not promised that the original decision will be overturned. According to page 35 of the National Honor Society Handbook, “Parents and students must understand that no student has a right to be selected for membership in a chapter of the National Honor Society.” However, no quota exists; each student who, in the judgment of the Faculty Council, meets the criteria for membership will be selected.
The above information is also detailed in the appeal form. All appeal forms are due by Feb 2nd, 2023 at 3:00pm and must be hand-delivered to Mr. Fuss (rm. 2717). If you cannot print this out, please visit Rm. 2717 or 2620 to pick up the application to appeal.
Four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
Enloe NHS Constitution
The Enloe NHS Constitution is a written statement explaining the rules, strikes, requirements, and all the basic information about NHS. We recommend reading through it to learn more about the club itself.
