OUR STORY

Tyler Midkiff is currently facing a critical illness and fighting a hard medical journey.

In May 2026, Tyler was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Tyler has been an integral part of the Allied Instructional Services (AIS) team and community for over a decade. He is a dedicated school-based physical therapist who is deeply loved by his students and the teaching teams he works alongside. He champions his students as they grow in confidence and pursue greater independence. Tyler advocates for inclusion and accessibility and is a steadfast ally for the children who need it most. He is an admirable clinician who elevates the profession of physical therapy within the unique school setting. Tyler also leads by example through his dedication to health, wellness, and clean living. His impact reaches far beyond his clinical role—he inspires the students, families, and colleagues fortunate enough to know him. Above all, he is a devoted husband to Angelica and a loving dad to his young son, Michael. Tyler works tirelessly for others and pours his light, energy, and compassion into those around him. Now, it is our turn and our privilege to stand in his corner and support Tyler and his family during this time.

All funds raised through this page will go directly toward Tyler’s medical expenses, caregiving costs, and daily living support as they focus entirely on healing and recovery.

We are hosting 3 individual raffles for 3 unique original paintings, each signed by the artist, Olivia Fields. In addition to being a talented artist, Olivia is a contracted Occupational Therapist with Allied Instructional Services (AIS).

Note by the Artist: Inspired by Tyler's appreciation for the sea, this collection of artwork reflects the peace, serenity, and hope found in nature’s beauty. May these paintings serve as a source of comfort and strength for Tyler, his family, and all individuals and families living with ALS.

Raffle 1: Painting #1
- Title of Artwork: "Golden Hour"
- Artist's Inspiration: Tyler and his wife spent years living in Arizona, where they enjoyed hiking, exploring, and taking in the beauty of the desert, particularly in Sedona, Phoenix, and the Grand Canyon. Tyler has always had a deep appreciation for nature and thoroughly enjoys exploring and admiring its beauty, especially the mountains, deserts, and beaches.

Raffle 2: Painting #2
- Title of Artwork: "The Chickadee"
- Artist's Inspiration: Tyler and his family live on a bird sanctuary in Henrico, Virginia, where they enjoy being surrounded by nature and wildlife. One of their favorite birds to watch is the Carolina Chickadee. Birdwatching is one of Tyler’s many favorite hobbies and one of the ways he enjoys connecting with and appreciating the beauty of the natural world.

- Title of Artwork: "Ocean Symphony"
- Artist's Inspiration: Tyler enjoys creating and listening to classical and ambient music, and he has always loved the beach. Over the years, he has spent time on beaches throughout the United States, Europe, and Hawaii, finding peace and inspiration in the beauty of the ocean. Tyler believes the sea is one of Earth’s greatest expressions of beauty.
