1. Data Collection and Usage
EnGoText does not collect or store any personal data on central servers. All data processing happens locally on your device.
Alias and Status: When you set an Alias or Status message, this data is broadcast locally via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) so other nearby users can see you on their radar. This data is not linked to your identity.
Messages: All messages are encrypted using AES-GCM and sent directly via Bluetooth to the recipient. We do not have access to your messages, nor are they stored anywhere except on the sender’s and receiver’s devices during the active session.
2. Permissions and Sensitive Data
To function correctly, the App requires the following sensitive permissions:
Bluetooth (Scan, Advertise, Connect): Necessary for discovering and communicating with nearby devices.
Location Access: On Android, Bluetooth scanning is technically tied to Location Services. EnGoText does NOT track, record, or share your GPS location. We only use these services to enable Bluetooth scanning of nearby devices.
Vibration: Used to provide haptic feedback when receiving messages.
3. User-Generated Content (UGC) Policy
EnGoText allows users to broadcast text and send messages. To ensure a safe environment:
Blocking: You can block any user from appearing on your radar or sending you messages.
Reporting: You can report offensive content. As a local P2P app, reporting is logged locally and helps the user manage their immediate social environment.
No Central Storage: Since there is no central server, we do not moderate content, but we provide tools for you to control who can contact you.
4. Third-Party Sharing
We do not share, sell, or trade your data with any third parties. There are no third-party trackers or analytics SDKs in the App.
5. In-App Purchases (Subscriptions)
The App uses Google Play Billing for Pro subscriptions. Payment information is handled exclusively by Google. We only receive a confirmation of your subscription status to unlock Pro features.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Encounter Log: The history of devices you have met is stored locally on your phone. You can clear this log at any time using the "CLEAR LOG" button.
App Deletion: Uninstalling the App will delete all local data, including your blocked list and encounter history.
