Subject : Increasing road accidents in Shimla.
Sir/Madam
I want to draw your attention to the increasing road accidents in our area.Your newspaper has itself reported eight accidents in the last thirty days. All these accidents are taking place due to many reasons. Common reasons are violation of traffic rules, rash driving, poor conditions of roads and overspeed. In the past eight accidents, three people have lost their lives. In the case of two- wheelers, people mostly are without helmets and in the case of four wheelers, people do not use seatbelt. As a result, a number of deaths take place almost every day. We should stop these unwanted deaths and increasing road accidents. We can do this by taking strict actions against violators of traffic rules. We can impose heavy fines and cancel the license of the offenders. Poor conditions of roads is a big problem and so the government has to take strict action against the contractors who make and maintain such roads.
I hope the concerned authorities and the general public will see the gravity of the matter and adopt all necessary preventive measures.
Yours sincerely

Subject - Regarding Covid-19
Sir / Madam
I would like to draw your kind attention of the general public to the ongoing situation of Covid-19 in India through the esteemed columns of your newspaper. Cases of Coronavirus are increasing day by day . It has been observed that people do not take necessary precautions against Covid-19. So it is imperative to inform people about the precautions of Coronavirus. The main points that are to be kept in mind are: People should
• cover their faces with masks
• wash or sanitize their hands regularly
• keep social distancing
• not go to crowded place
• keep a check on their physical health
• stay home and stay safe.
If anyone has symptoms of Coronavirus then one must go to the doctor and get oneself tested. The virus is very dangerous because in severe cases infection from Coronavirus may result in a lack of oxygen in the human body which may prove fatal if overlooked. The demand for oxygen cylinders is increasing rapidly. Government has been trying hard to maintain the supply of Oxygen to hospitals and Covid-Care centres. Other countries are also helping India in this difficult time to meet the growing demand for medical equipment and other essential medical supplies. Doctors and nurses are working very hard to treat Covid patients. Scientists are working on producing more vaccines. People should get two shots of the vaccine as soon as possible and also take necessary precautions . Everyone is requested to cooperate in this endeavour of saving lives from Coronavirus.

Subject: Rise in accidents due to reckless driving
Sir/Madam
I would like to draw your kind attention towards the maintenance of the rise in accidents due to reckless driving through the columns of your esteemed newspaper. Nowadays, the cases of reckless driving by the youth are on the rise. There is a growing desire for thrill and action possibly due to the action sequences and extraordinary stunts that are shown in the movies. The youth, unmindful of the consequences, try to mimic these stunts in real life. The need to overtake, zooming at high speed and the thrill and enjoyment one can get from all this has driven the youth to reckless driving. At the same time, this is very dangerous because such people cause damage not only to themselves but also to other people and life in general. The government should take strict action against such reckless drivers and should ensure the safety and well-being of the public.

Respected Sir
I am writing this letter to express my deep anguish over the problem of female foeticide in Indian society. I read in the editorial column about female foeticide practice in the Indian society. People in India prefer sons to daughters. As a result female foeticide is practiced in many states. In spite of the stringent laws against female foeticide this evil practice is rampant in many states of India such as Punjab,Haryana and U.P. The number of males per females is increasing. The data predicts that in the coming years the ratio of young women is going to fall alarmingly.
I appeal through the column columns of your esteemed daily to the concerned ministry to look into the problem and take concrete steps to stop this stigma.
Thanking you

Subject: Female infanticide and lack of respect for females in our society
Dear Sir/Madam
Through the column of your reputed newspaper, I wish to draw your kind attention to the female infanticide and lack of respect for females in our society. Female infanticide is a stigma on our society. Girls are considered a burden in Indian families. This thought makes people kill a female foetus in the womb itself. One main reason behind disliking the girl child could be the tradition of a huge amount of dowry. Dowry system is also a stigma on our society. Moreover boys are expected to support and earn for their parents in their old age. According to Indian constitution every girl has the right to get education and enroll in her choice of profession.
Although the government has banned the testing of gender during pregnancy. But still female infanticide is rampant in society. The government should take actions to strictly implement this law so that our nation proceeds towards gender equality.

Subject: Request to increase the number of buses on the route to Govt. College Nagrota Surian from ISBT
Dear Sir:
I would like to draw your kind attention to the subject mentioned above.. Very few buses ply on the route of college .The Number of buses ply on the route of our college is insufficient. In the morning there is a big crowd. Even those buses which ply down the road are overcrowded. While returning from college there are no buses in sight at all. Most students choose to travel from taxis but everyone cannot afford that huge travelling cost. Students who belong to the weaker economic section of society need the bus services as they cannot afford to travel by private vehicles. Most of the time the buses are late and students are the worst sufferers in this scenario. They arrive late in college. As a result they are unable to concentrate on their studies.
I request you to increase the number of buses on this route. I hope the authorities will take reasonable steps as soon as possible to resolve this problem.

Subject : Complaint about the large-scale use of loudspeaker in our city
Sir
I beg to draw your kind attention to the excessive use of loudspeakers in our city. The use of loudspeakers in the city is increasing day by day. Loudspeakers are used indiscriminately during day as well as night. They are used in temples and Gurudwaras. They are used in marriages, Jagrans, meetings, rallies and all sorts of social, religious and other functions. The use of loudspeakers can be justified on some occasions. But their constant and indiscriminate use disturbs the peace and calm of the city. Sometimes, even shopkeepers put up loudspeakers to attract the customers to boost their sales. The old and sick people also suffer from this. They can't tolerate too much noise. Next to the college hostel there are two or three loudspeakers always playing film songs at the loudest pitch. The poor students are the worst sufferers. They can't study in the day as well as at night. They find it difficult to concentrate on their studies with so much noise around. Too much noise from loudspeakers is very harmful to everyone.
Sir, I request you that the excessive and constant use of loudspeakers should be banned and the timings during which these can be used should be fixed.I hope the government will take suitable action regarding this problem.
Yours sincerely

Through this letter I want to draw your kind attention towards the nuisance of loudspeakers in our neighbourhood in Nagrota Surian for the last 10 days. In this busy prime period of marriages people are using loudspeakers at high volume and creating noise pollution in our neighbourhood. Due to this students are unable to concentrate on their studies and old people are unable to sleep properly, especially patients.
We have requested them many times to keep the volume low but no action has been taken by them.
I request you to look into the problem and take some immediate steps to solve this problem.
