The English Bay Leaseholders’ Association (EBLA) provides information to leaseholders who live in the 99-year residential lease buildings in the West End of Vancouver.

Mission Statement: To help leaseholders with 99-year residential leases better understand the terms of their lease agreements.

Here is a list of the West End Vancouver leasehold buildings EBLA deals with and the number of suites in each.

The Chelsea (40 suites) 1219 Harwood St. V6E 3V1
El Cid (208 suites) 1850 Comox St. V8G 1R3
The Horizon (89 suites) 1250 Burnaby St. V6E 1P5
Lancaster Gate (84 suites) 1720 Barclay St. V6G 1K4
The Martinique (92 suites) 1100 Harwood St. V6E 1R
The St. Pierre (41 suites) 1534 Harwood St. V6G 1X8
The Surfcrest (160 suites) 1251 Cardero St. V6G 2H9
Westsea Towers (172 suites) 1330 Harwood St. V6E 1S8

Note: With the exception of the building called “Lancaster Gate”, all these buildings have identical 99 year leases. Lancaster Gate has a different 99-year lease.

Note also, that there is one other building in the West End which shares our lease. The Heritage, at 1075 Comox St. with 184 suites, is very similar in structure to Westsea Towers. Our understanding is that more than half the suites in The Heritage are owned by the building’s owners, making it more like a rental building, unless you happen to be one of the remaining leaseholders. This building, while always welcome, has never been a part of EBLA.
