English All Over the Place is a podcast that was started by two English teachers while working at IUHW (International University of Health and Welfare) Narita English teachers, Barnabas Martin and Shawn De Haven. The podcast and its accompanying learning material provides English learners with a chance to hone their English skills outside of a classroom environment. Covering many different topics in English (hence the name), we hope that you have as much fun listening to English All Over the Place as we did making it.
A native of Arcadia, California, Shawn graduated from CSU Monterey Bay with a BA in Japanese Language and Culture and received an MA in Comparative Culture from International Christian University with a focus on Japanese comedy. Shawn continues to research the genre through his website "It's Funny in Japanese," even performing rakugo when he can.
From Wooster, Ohio, Barnabas (you can go ahead and call him "Barney"), graduated from Goshen College with a BA in History and later earned an MEd in Literacy and Second Language Studies from the University of Cincinnati. Peace & reconciliation and the environment are two issues that are very important to him.
Barney can connect almost anything to an episode of Frasier or Northern Exposure, and has a story about everything - which is the main reason why the podcast episodes go over time.
