Introduction - This screenshot is from a Carls Jr commercial. In this commercial, it shows a woman eating their hot sandwich and while she keeps eating the sandwich she starts looking more attractive and starts to show more skin in the commercial. This commercial was made to entice the male views to buy their sandwich by objectifying the women with the "hotness" of their sandwich.
Why This Objectify Women - In this commercial for Carls Jr commercial, they objectify a woman to appeal to the male viewers to buy their sandwich. They start off the commercial in a drive-in movie theater with many couples around. Then we get a close-up shot of the blonde woman seen above but not showing that much skin unlike later in the commercial. Then in the next shot, she starts to take a bite out of the sandwich then after that might she starts to show the more revealing clothing. Next after that shot, it goes to a shot of a couple but the boyfriend looking at the girl who is eating the Carl Jr's sandwich. This just proves that this commercial is made for the male viewers of this commercial. As stated in the Kilbourne article that "sex in advertising is pornographic because it dehumanizes and objectifies people, especially women, and because it fetishes products, imbues them with an erotic charge." (489). I believe this shows that this commercial was made to objectify the women in this commercial and dehumanize women as a whole.
Conclusion - This just proves that this commercial is made for the male viewers of this commercial. I believe this shows that this commercial was made to objectify the women in this commercial and dehumanize women as a whole.
