ENG 1101
Professor McGinnis
Final Reflection
Hello, My name is Lawson Dixon and I was given the opportunity to take Dr. McGinnis’s online class for my 2021 fall semester at the College of Coastal Georgia. This class has taught me many critical thinking and problem solving skills and has helped me to be more productive overall. With the many in-depth and extensive projects and discussion posts that were assigned, I had to rearrange my schedule to best fit these due dates. This class has taught me how to successfully plan out my week in order to get all of my work done and has definitely kept me busy. This class has also helped me to recognize rhetoric in everyday conversations or in pieces of literature. Not only that but, I now know how to correctly reference a piece of information when using it for my writing or other pieces of work. When referencing someone's work, I know I must do a work citation for them so that the reader knows exactly where to find the information. Lastly, using what was taught, I try to use rhetoric to keep the audience's attention. Rhetoric is often thought of as bad or manipulative but it can be used even when writing to make your piece of literature sound less boring. Lastly, without trying I notice in my work and my peers work when to and how to use appropriate mechanical and grammatical usage for different audiences and/or genres. In short, This class has taught me many problem solving skills and critical thinking skills that I will in turn use for my future classes or even out when I am working on something. I can safely say that I can reference Professor McGininnis’s class when I am faced with a problem.
