My group chose the discrimination of the disabled as our umbrella topic and I decided to make my podcast on the discrimination of the disabled in the work environment. I introduced this briefly on the articles I have found in my research. There is not a lot of evidence and research done on this issue in society or in the workplace. I also mentioned a few videos that I came across during my research that brought awareness to the fact that just because someone has a disability does not mean that hey are incapable of performing tasks. I felt that it was important to give an example from one of the videos I came across that was about a female who had severe autism and her negative outlook and perspective in the work field. Many people have a disability that leads them to insecurities or self-doubt about themselves. I want people to reconsider how they judge someone and to think about how they are quick to judge a person just because of a disability an individual has. We should all recognize the apparent discrimination and learn to undo societal ableist views as well as work to reform the work place.
