The aims and objectives of teaching Mathematics at Senior Secondary School level have been derived from three sources: The Educational Reform Document of 1997, the Structure of Mathematics as an academic discipline and the needs of the society. The syllabus is structured in such a way that the pupil is encouraged to put emphasis on the mathematical concepts, principles and creative thinking processes.

When using this syllabus, it should be realised that Mathematics is a discipline with integrated and hierarchical concepts and skills. It is therefore, recommended that an integrated and spiral approach be used.

MR. MICHAEL CEMBALEST: Good morning, students. This is your dean speaking. We look forward to seeing you back on campus, although you're not going to be allowed to gather in large groups, which we think will reduce COVID transmission and also cut down on all of your excessive drinking. Since most of you experienced declining grades last year, we've doubled your coursework and so your syllabus is going to be eight classes this semester instead of four. One brief update to the syllabus, the course, the Origins of COVID that was supposed to be taught by Professor Peter Daszak has been cancelled until further notice.

Anyway, here's a quick overview of the eight courses in your syllabus for this fall. The first one is on addictive behaviors and the prefrontal cortex and external stimuli, where we're going to look at the consequences of Fed liquidity on the stock market. Fed's about to slow it to asset purchases, and the share of U.S. equities that are very sensitive to liquidity conditions keeps rising. There's still a lot of demand for long-duration Treasury from banks, pension funds, and insurance companies for regulatory reasons and liability management, but we will have to explore over the next few months the implications of reduced liquidity on the stock market.

Since June 2020, the MoPSE started rolling out nationwide radio lessons for junior level (grade 3-7), covering mathematics, science, heritage and social studies, family, religious and moral education, and environmental science. G&C-LSE was absent from the list of lessons provided. With this gap in mind, UNFPA and UNESCO decided to provide financial and technical support for the development and airing of G&C-LSE radio lessons for junior education (grade 3-7) and secondary level which were subsequently integrated into the overall MoPSE radio lessons broadcasting schedule.

The existing G&C curricula were adapted to suit the format of radio lessons. The specific lessons were developed in workshops with teachers and other education professionals while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines. Three teachers at each grade level were identified to attend the training on syllabus interpretation, script development, and studio presentation. More specifically, the process entailed a three-day training covering induction, syllabus interpretation, and scriptwriting, twenty days of script development and recording of lessons, as well as the broadcasting of lessons. The training was necessitated by the fact that G&C-LSE lessons for secondary school learners were not part of the ongoing primary level radio lessons program and the newly developed syllabus needed thorough interpretation by the teachers. The teams were divided into four groups so as to maintain social distancing as per the COVID-19 lockdown regulations. After training, radio lessons were recorded in the studio.
