I am trying to jump into the field of deep learning. I have some past experience with ML and DL, and I have even completed fast.ai's course "Practical Deep Learning for Coders Part 1". I want to take it to the next step though, and many have recommended that I follow a book. All of the books I can find though, seem to be quite outdated, especially since ML and DL have progressed so much in the last year alone.

My question basically is, what are some good DL books that are still up to date in terms of whats covered and how it the information is presented. Bonus if it uses Pytorch, as that is what I want to learn.

Visible Learning Books by John HattieProfessor John Hattie is an internationally-acclaimed education researcher who has written extensively on the subject of visible learning. Throughout three decades of empirical education research, he has published bestselling books that explore the science of learning and how it can be applied to improve educational systems and individual student outcomes.

In total, Hattie's books are informed by over 130,000 studies involving 400 million students globally. They're excellent resources for teachers, students, educational leaders and parents who are interested in learning more about the science of education.

Visible Learning for Teachers was John Hattie's second book on visible learning and brings the ground breaking concepts to a completely new audience. Written for teachers in the classroom and in training, it explains how to apply the principles to any classroom anywhere in the world.

John Hattie offers concise and user-friendly summaries of the most successful interventions and provides practical step-by-step guidance to the successful implementation of visible learning and visible teaching in the classroom.

Feedback is arguably the most critical and powerful aspect of teaching and learning. Yet, there remains a paradox: why is feedback so powerful, and why is it so variable? It is this paradox which Visible Learning: Feedback aims to unravel and resolve.

Written by teachers working with researchers to incorporate the latest evidence from psychology and neuroscience, it explains how our growing understanding of the brain can be applied to improve cognitive performance and attainment, foster a love of learning and enable a healthy and productive approach to personal development - improving the learning outcomes for all.

The original Visible Learning research concluded that one of the most important influencers of student achievement is how teachers think about learning and their own role. In Ten Mindframes for Visible Learning, John Hattie and Klaus Zierer define the ten behaviors or mindframes that teachers need to adopt in order to maximize student success.

Writing this book with his own son Kyle, himself a respected teacher, the Hatties offer a 10-step plan to nurturing curiosity and intellectual ambition and providing a home environment that encourages and values learning. These simple steps based on the strongest of research evidence and packed full of practical advice can be followed by any parent or carer to support and enhance learning and maximize the potential of their children.

The original ground-breaking book published in 2008 was the result of 15 years research and synthesised over 800 meta-analyses on the influences on achievement in school-aged students. Still popular, It builds a story about the power of teachers, feedback, and a model of learning and understanding.

Explore more code examples from the author. The Learning Deep Learning GitHub repository contains Python files for all code examples included in the book. The repository also contains well-documented Jupyter notebooks that let you step through each example interactively. Many of the code examples are based on the TensorFlow DL framework, which is the framework that is taught in the printed book. For readers who are interested in learning the PyTorch DL framework instead of (or in addition to) TensorFlow, the repository also contains PyTorch versions of these examples. The Jupyter notebooks contain detailed descriptions of the PyTorch constructs, at a similar detail level as TensorFlow is described in the book.

What are the best books to read to become a better learner? (Aside from my book, of course.) I get asked this question a lot, though most of my recent reading lists have been more academic and somewhat removed from immediate applications.

You can learn a lot about a foreign language from a language learning book. One of the benefits of using a book at the start of your language learning journey is that you can learn at your own pace. Language learning books can be used to review basic topics as well as more advanced grammar.

There are three Structured Learning Books which previously supported and encouraged learners to go forward to sit examinations leading to The Elementary Certificate, The Intermediate Certificate and The Advanced Certificate. Although these exams are no longer in existence, the curriculum within these books forms the basis of the current syllabus for the SQA Units in Piping and Drumming offered by the Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board.
