In January 2014, Jason's New Song Talk Dirty was available in the US. The song starts off with a girl saying his name, then you see different country's flags. As the video progresses you can see there are guys dancing, and there is a girl who is twerking in the video. When you first hear this song you think nothing of it but when you actually pay attention to the lyrics, and the video itself, it's not the same towards the end.
"Booty Don't Need Explaining"
In the video, you can see many people dancing as well, but the sexual references are clearly implied. "Sex is advertised as pornographic because it dehumanizes and objectifies people, especially women, and because it fetishizes products, imbues them with erotic charge" (Kilbourne, Pg. 489 Para 2). The song is clearly about sex the full way, but people don't pay enough attention to the lyrics to fully comprehend what is being implied. As you can see, in the figure on the left, that is an image implying the fact that sex is better than getting to know her. The fetish that is being generalized is girls with big butts otherwise it would throw off the lyric, "Got her saved in my phone under big booty".
"You Know What Is"
"Lipstick Stamps"
As the song progresses, the sexual implications continue seeing as this is what the song is about. The figure in the top left is referring to the lyric, "our conversations ain't long but you know what is", this is saying why talk when we could have sex instead. Kilbourne states,"Sex in advertising is more about disconnection and disturbance rather than connection and closeness". This quote ties in the facts for the "our conversation ain't long". lyric The caption on the bottom left's lyric has the reference he is a playboy especially with all of his "lipstick stamps" on his passport. This is saying sex is more important than getting to know someone, especially if you go back to the beginning of the song where he says, "seat on my lap girl riding comfortable", why would I want to sit and that lyric has a sexual implication of a sex position which is disturbing.
At this point in the song, its coming to a close but something stuck out to me. The figure on the right is with the lyrics, "have her saved in my phone under big booty", you didn't think to ask her for her name. Kilbourne states, "Men conquer and women ensnare". This quote is saying while men are conquering to get what they want they are snared by women who catch their eye but after a while the man will get bored and move on. This also has a good implication that he cares more about sex, and I'm guessing that when she starts to feel as though you are using her for sex, and nothing real like a relationship they will get tired of it.
"Big Booty"
The music video is about how you don't care what a girl is saying, as long as you are getting into her pants. The amount of sexualization in this video wasn't as surprising until you pay attention to the lyrics. Women shouldn't have to be sexualized just for you to make a profit especially if they do the majority of the work. Why would I have to be a certain way just to get paid, and not really have a say in what I wear. Sexualizing women just for you to not only make a name for yourself but getting people to buy your stuff is common not only in the music industry but everywhere.
