This project was made with the idea to optimize the 3 steps: Production, Storing and Consuming of food. If we think in deep, in these 3 steps there are many efficiency loss and wastage of our harvested crops and foods. We have optimized all 3 steps to increase the efficiency of production, monitoring the storage facility and inventory management.
WORKING PROCES:
Production: At the production level, our farmers often use chemical fertilizer on their land and it results in damaging the soil and in long term it affects the production. We propose to use a ESP32 based system which also includes NPK 7 in 1 Soil sensor which can read and show data of different soil perimeters like pH level, Temperature, Conductivity, Humidity, Nitrogen level, Phosphorous level and Potassium level. With the help of this project, a farmer can determine which fertilizer should be used and also the quantity of it within a very short time. We believe this will increase the efficiency of our food production.
on the other hand, we have created a website where a farmer can upload a picture of an infected leaf and our trained model will predict the diseases and what's the cure of it. We have achieved about 97% accuracy at predicting the diseases and used a lot of data, thousands of pictures to train out model.
Storing: After harvesting the crop properly, a substantial amount of the crop needs to be stored in a cold storage. The scenario of Bangladesh in this case has 2 major drawbacks.
1. Optimum temperature and humidity is not maintained.
2. Some dishonest Venders store the crops forcefully and don't provide proper information to the government. They want more profit and it results in increasing the market price because of the fake crisis in the market they create .
We have smart approach to solve these 2 issues. We made the storage facility smart and the information about the real amount of crop stored in a storage will be sent to a Webportal and the government will be in control of it. They will be able to monitor and control the storage system remotely. The controlling includes from opening/ closing the Door to control/ monitor/ set inside temperature, humidity, total weight , condition of the crop. This system includes a 2 axis solar panel so that the sensors never fails to collect data. In this way no one can hide the truth and the govt will be able to take control over the market and make prices affordable for the consumers.
Consuming: At consumer level, mostly waste of food takes place in Supper shop and Restaurants. For these 2 different places we have taken 2 different approach.
1. Image processing using ESP32 Cam bord
2. A smart tray to keep track of medium scale inventory in restaurants.
In supper Shops, there are big shelfs and a large amount of different products are stored in a systematic way. But still someone has to keep an eye on them to update the shelfs. But using the technique of image processing, only one person will be able to keep his eye on the whole shop with a local web server. Basically the cam bord takes an image and processes it and update the web page automatically. Using that webpage one can easily find out what's need to import, What should be the quantity and which product is being sold rapidly.
Second approach is for the restaurants. The system we built is like a tray which will keep track of those items which are generally not stored in Fridge using rf id tags and a weight sensor.
The data will be sent to the server also and will have the list and quantity of items.
