In short: when and where maths is used depends on the project, level and need at the time. Design needs maths for viability (to know it will work!) its an essentail part of investigation, modelling (hence mathematical modelling) and proposal of solutions that are viable for commerical use. This page collects some of the key mathematical concepts used in design from structures to sales. This page is being developed all the time so be sure to check back if some of the mathematics needs a refresh!
