We built a skateboard on Onshape for our first unit of Applied Engineering
We first started with a sketch of our skateboard. Using Onshape's sketching tools such as circle and rectangle, we created the base of our skateboard, as shown to the left. Then the sketch was extruded and boring holes made to hold the trunks.
I was then able to bend the board to make it more realistic.
Next up was the trunks. Using many drawings and extrudes, I was able to model a trunk for the skateboard.
Next up, it was time to make the wheels and bearings. Using the sketch on the right, I was able to revolve it around the construction line to make the wheel. After a fillet, I was able to create a wheel like below. Then, all I needed to do was to make the bearing.
It was finally time to assemble the pieces and to finish up my skate board. The final assembly was completed below:
The final result is complete!
Overall, this unit was fun to complete and I didn't have any challenges as I already knew onshape. It was a fun unit however and I spent a bunch of time helping others because I finished my skateboard early.
