Waterproofing Solutions to Fix Water Leakages
Cement your leak-prone cracks
This affordable waterproofing method uses cement combined with acrylic additives to create a sturdy waterproof material used on building sides or flat cement roofs. Its aim is to keep rain out of areas that are prone to pooling water. Your hired contractor will apply a coat of cement mixture over hairline cracks to fill them in and prevent them from spreading.
Unfortunately, the cement is still cement. Apart from its long drying time, this mixture is not very flexible. Temperature differences during the day are likely to cause cracks in the cement as it expands and contracts. It is therefore unsuitable for our Malaysian weather, as our climate can change from hot and humid to rainy at any time. Your cement coating can crack over time, making the roof more prone to leakage.
Apply an asphalt layer to your cement flat roof.
Asphalt, or more specifically, bituminous coatings, are a petroleum-based type of waterproofing. It can be sprayed like paint or applied to surfaces as an adhesive because it is a versatile material. This technique is resistant to strain due to its rubbery consistency. As a result, bituminous waterproof coating is commonly used on flat areas such as flat roofs. However, since it heats up easily, this waterproofing material is not suitable for sun-exposed areas. You'll need to apply a cement layer to prevent it from cracking. Some seasoned Nano-G suppliers advise against using this material indoors. This is due to the fact that the substance used releases a mild odour that is harmful if inhaled for an extended period of time.
Fill cracks with a PU injection
What if anything that needs less mixing is something you want to try? Another common way to fill up cracks found in the ceiling is a PU (Polyurethane) injection. These methods, sadly, require drilling. Firstly, by drilling a hole into the ceiling, your contractor can treat the suspected leakage area. Then, to fill in the hole with the expanding li, they would stick a motorized pump into the ceiling. In theory, this seems like your seal will reach a wide surface area, but it’s not guaranteed to fill in every hairline crack.
Apply an epoxy resin layer to your floor
Okay, how about resin epoxy? This is regarded as a low-cost method of filling all gaps in the floor, roof, or balcony. Furthermore, the epoxy resin floor may serve as an anti-slip solution, but these benefits are only temporary. Like the previous methods, you will need to touch up and re-lay epoxy coatings over time. Not to mention the time-consuming pre-cleaning and lengthy wait until the floor is safe to walk on again.
Use nanotechnology waterproofing materials
Get an expert to fix your stain or water leakage problems instead of going through the trial and mistake of figuring out the best way to waterproof your bathroom tiles, ceiling or roof! Nano-G employs a non-hacking, non-toxic method to create a thin coating film that adheres to any surface and even the smallest hairline break. It is also suitable for coating both inside and outside. Unlike previous waterproofing approaches, nano-waterproofing G's technology for nanotechnology is dust-free and odor-free. You should remain at home while the substance is being applied to your toilet, balcony, or ceiling. Furthermore, the waterproofing application takes just 24 hours to dry!
