Engineered wood products such as OSB Panels, PSL, LVL, Glulam, and TJI Beams, all have the advantage of strength from combining wood grains with adhesive and a large amount of pressure to compress the material, making it denser than regular lumber. There is also the benefit of not being limited by size- we can use less forestry for the same amount of material, such as combining scraps or smaller pieces of wood together or using faster growing trees that may be smaller versus needing to cut down a larger tree for the same size of lumber that fits industry standards.
