We shall be studying the book Lie Groups A Problem-Oriented Introduction via Matrix Groups by Harriet Pollatsek (MAA, 2009). This is a problem book so you shall learn by solving the problems and we shall discuss your solutions in the lecture time. While studying the topics in this book for some preliminary materials, each of you shall select some topics from the Appendix II Paper Assignment of this book or some other related topics. You shall present your research plan, your studies; you shall write an article for what you have obtained and you shall present it in a seminar till the end of the term.
