However, educators and researchers have found that despite being in a first world country and receiving one of the best educations, many American children are struggling to master such essential literary skills. This ultimately hinders them from achieving high paying jobs or performing well in their career. Kids from lower socioeconomic households tend to be the biggest victims of this issue. By understanding the problem and assessing why this tends to occur, we can take steps to ensure that no child is placed at a disadvantage and is able to master these literacy comprehension skills that are essential to daily life.
