Just how true to canon does the ACOTAR fandom tend to be?
After analyzing the tags on AO3 it appears that only around 10% of fics in the ACOTAR fandom are classified as AU (alternate universe). In comparison to other fandoms this number seems quite low after observing Alternate Universe to be one of the most popular tags on all of AO3.
Based on this analysis of all the fics in the ACOTAR fandom and the tagging system on AO3 it is reasonable to say that this fandom tends to stick to canon more so than others. An overarching adherence to canon has been observed in other statistical analysis performed for this fandom, but this acts as a confirmation for this finding.
