The First Brazilian Northeastern Meeting on Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry brought together renowned specialists and young researchers to discuss central topics of Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry and their interactions. It was a great conference that is helping strengthen the development of such areas in Brazil, especially in the northeastern region. We also celebrated Aron Simis' 83rd birthday and paid homage to Wolmer Vasconcelos and Jürgen Herzog, two great mathematicians of great importance to the commutative algebra community in northeastern Brazil.
We had around 80 participants (+speakers) from all over Brazil and some foreign countries. The major outcome was to bring together many PhD students/young researchers and renowned specialists in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry. The audience could experience high-level talks and interact (in-person) with the speakers.
