1)    Safe  

I want you to feel safe physically and emotionally in my care, because of my continual presence at your side. I also want you to feel safe because of certain tools you will have at your disposal.  When you have knowledge of the process of childbirth, have researched interventions that may come up, and have practiced techniques for optimizing your birth experience, you will feel safe knowing that, although birth can be unpredictable, you have given yourself the best chance at the best birth possible.

2)    Seen 

Every birthing person has their own story, their own perspective, fears, preferences, and dreams.  My goal is not to fit you into how I see the birth world, but for you to feel fully seen for the unique person you are!  I want you to feel as though you have someone in your corner, who sees your heart, who "gets it"!  During the birth, I want you to feel that your needs are anticipated and seen, that you are my whole world when you need it most.

3)    Empowered

Birth is such a vulnerable time because your whole being – your body, soul, and spirit – is put to the test.  With the right mindset, birth can be one of the most powerful, positive, and empowering events in your life.  It is my goal to encourage you in a mindset of empowerment throughout pregnancy and birth.  I also want to empower partners to realize the impact of their role and to be the hero in your birth story.  It is my hope that you will both feel that "I just climbed a mountain or ran a marathon" sense of accomplishment and victory.
