Surrounded by piles of high-quality designer fabrics in downtown Kansas City, Dana had recently returned to KC from the LA area and was struck with an idea. She called her friend Angela, a sewing enthusiast, and said, "Can you come see this? I really think we can transform these beautiful fabrics into amazing pieces and give them a new life." With that, ENCORE was born, starting with designer pillows, one-of-a-kind designer jackets, and luxury accessories.
"The materials we use to create these works of art are once-loved items that, for a variety of reasons, were given away or sold," Angela said. Each item we procure is sourced and researched, then carefully cleaned using eco-friendly methods. The next step is to design and sew them into unique, one-of-a-kind creations.
“Although we are not affiliated with the brands or trademarks of the products we up-use,” Angela said, “we love working with authenticated, high-end designer goods, reimagining them into something new.”
Friends-turned-business-partners
In 2023, two women with complementary talents came together to create ENCORE, a brand dedicated to transforming designer fabrics, silks, and high-end textiles into upcycled luxury goods.
We first crossed paths in high school at an American Legion Auxiliary Girls State camp, then reconnected on bid day in college. Over the next four years, we lived through shared experiences in the same sorority, and after graduation, we each pursued successful careers in the corporate sector, non-profit work, and real estate.
Decades later we reunited to build ENCORE, a business that blends our passion for design, creativity, and making a positive impact. As a social enterprise, ENCORE is committed to giving back, with a portion of profits donated to charitable causes, staying true to the spirit of our name—giving something more.
