Redundant Encoding and Packaging
(REaP)
Workshop
Second Workshop on Redundant Encoding and Packaging for Live segmented Media
The goal of this workshop is to bring people from industry and different standards developing organizations together for reviewing and improving the work on redundant encoding and packaging of live segmented media done in MPEG.
We will present the outcome of the MPEG call for proposals on encoder and packager synchronization leading to redundant encoder and packaging for live segmented media, MPEG-DASH part 9.
The standard defines a live segment track format based on CMAF and ISOBMFF. The The standard defines a live segment track format based on CMAF and ISOBMFF. The standard also defines the Ingest MPD (I-MPD) for live media ingest and redundant encoding. Further, the standard defines the D-MPD and media playlist format for redundant packaging. Finally, the standard provides recommendations for cloud storage and using an MPD for cloud storage (S-MPD).
