Heather is a full-time, multifaceted artist with her home studio based in southern Indiana. She primarily works with Reborn art dolls, felt sculpting, and also enjoys mixed-media art, photography, watercolor painting, writing, illustration, and sculpting.
Heather is a wife and mom to three amazing kids and two adorable granddaughters. Heather paints and creates life-like Reborn dolls by hand from artist-sculpted blank kits and Berenguer dolls. Heather is also a contracted designer for Spoon Flower.com fabric and textile designs. Heather spent the first part of her creative journey as a published author and writes young adult fiction and children's books, and still writes when time allows under multiple pen names. In her spare time, she loves thrifting, antiques, sewing, home restoration, and decorating.
Heather began her formal career in the creative industry in 2010 as a published young adult and children's book author and illustrator, with several published children's book titles to date. Art has always been a great source of joy for her in all its beautiful and varied forms. She creates in all of them at any given time. Heather opened her art studio in 2017 after major health issues and a life-disrupting multiple-chronic-illness diagnosis. Heather was unable to work outside the home due to chronic illness issues, but chose not to give up on her love of art and to try and create something that might help others despite her health limitations. Heather has always been a doll lover and collector since she was a young child, so naturally, as an adult, being given the chance to create them in her home studio is a dream come true for her. She began sculpting mini-dolls in late 2019 and switched over fully to reborn doll painting in January of 2020.
Heather enjoys making her art truly unique with authentic realism and much attention given to the tiny details. She creates all of her reborn dolls and doll sculptures in her home studio in southern Indiana and sells them online at Reborns.com and Etsy. Heather is also a certified member of RAA- Reborn Artistry Alliance.
Heather loves to help doll collectors add new creations to their collections. She also loves to create some of her reborns for therapy programs and mental health programs to help with healing. She has worked with various healthcare directors who have associations with the American Alzheimer's Association and various nursing home care programs that use reborn doll therapy. She has partnered with multiple programs for Alzheimer's therapy/care and provided dolls to their patients, both in care centers and in outreach home care settings. Heather feels honored to share her dolls with other therapy groups that vary from PTSD patients to infant and pregnancy loss therapy programs, where reborn dolls have been found to offer healing and help.
The benefits of reborn doll therapy are truly unique and special. Heather is always honored to create dolls that can help bring joy and healing to people for whatever reason they choose to add them to their lives, be it for therapeutic reasons or just for the simple enjoyment of collecting these life-like works of art.
