Today's quote from Adam Grant reminds me that we tend to act on doubt and freeze up rather than act. My way of getting around this is to see what I do as it's my duty to do it. For some reason, once it's in my head that I have a duty to accomplish, I'm more likely to get it done. However, this doesn't always work. So, in other cases, it works to set a schedule. A calendar works great for that, but a lot of times, the calendar stays in my head. This quote, on the other hand, is referring to more than just the way having doubts can keep us from acting. It can keep us from growing. For instance, the way we believe about something that can prevent us from seeing a larger picture. The lack of the big picture view can have a few different results, such as either a failure to act, or to misinterpret a situation and make a faulty decision. It may be that reflection before acting could have some positive benefit.
