So I am actually proud to say I kinda uncovered a bit of, for lack of a better term, lost media. One day while doing research for this project, I stumbled across a sold Mercari listing for a Luisa "Mashems". Which raised the question: WTF is Mashems??? Mind you, I have been obsessed with Encanto since it came out and have been collecting merchandise for so long that until I move out on my own (housing is not cheap here *sigh*) I am running out of space to display it all in my small room at my parent's house. So I searched, went down a major rabbit hole, and the only other evidence I could find that these existed was an unboxing channel that made a video with several Mashems surprise balls, two of which happened to be Encanto. This gave some more insight as I was able to actually see the packaging and see that the "mystery" Mashem not shown on the label was Dolores. I posted about this on the Encanto Subreddit, and after no one else had even heard of these, I decided to just keep an eye out knowing I probably would not be able to get my hands on them...
...then a week later a new listing from a scalper showed up on Mercari. I wouldn't be surprised if this was someone that saw my post, went "wait I have some of those", then listed it knowing that I or some other dedicated Encanto collector would see it and swipe them up. Point is, I got them for more than I wanted to spend, but it gave definitive proof that yes, these are a thing. Considering I got Mirabel, Antonio, and Bruno, the only one that I haven't seen even an image of is Isabela. However, I am definitely going to be keeping an eye out for the remaining three I don't have.
