Emula is an NFC UID utility designed to work locally on your Android device. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Emula may access and store the following information locally:
card names entered by you;
NFC card UIDs entered by you or read from a physical NFC card;
the currently selected card;
app preferences related to NFC operation;
the firmware build fingerprint used to scope an experimental raw-mode choice and a temporary snapshot of NFC controller parameters needed to restore its original configuration;
device model, Android version, NFC capabilities, and permission status when showing NFC diagnostics.
This information is used only to provide the app's card management, NFC UID emulation, card reading, and diagnostic features. Card names, UIDs, and preferences remain in the app's private storage on your device.
Emula does not automatically collect or transmit personal data or card data to the developer or other companies. The app does not contain advertising, analytics, tracking, account registration, or automatic crash-reporting services. Emula does not request the Android Internet permission.
In NFC diagnostics, you can copy a report or choose Email to open a draft in your email app. Before opening the draft, Emula explains what the report may contain. Reports include the app version, device model, Android version, firmware build details, NFC capabilities, permission status, and available NFC operation results. NFC operation details may contain card UIDs and controller parameters.
When you open a draft, the report is passed to the email app you choose. That app or its provider may store or sync the draft according to its settings and privacy policy. You can review and edit the draft before sending it, or discard it without sending.
If you send it, the developer receives the report, your email address, and any information you include in the message. This information is used to investigate compatibility problems and respond to your support request, not for advertising or analytics.
Emula uses the following Android permissions:
NFC to read a card UID when you explicitly start card reading and to use supported NFC functionality;
WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS to configure supported NFC UID emulation functionality. This protected permission must be granted manually through ADB and is not used to collect personal data.
If you choose Support Emula, the app asks for confirmation and then opens the external PayPal website in your browser. Emula does not send card names, UIDs, or other app data to PayPal and does not receive or store your payment details. Your interaction with PayPal is governed by PayPal's own privacy policy and terms.
Locally stored card data and preferences remain on your device until you delete them in the app, clear Emula's app data in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Android cloud backup is disabled for Emula.
Support emails and diagnostic reports sent to the developer are retained for as long as needed to investigate and respond to your request. You can request deletion of this correspondence by contacting the email address below. Uninstalling Emula does not delete emails already sent or drafts stored by your email provider; you can manage those through your email service.
Emula keeps its data in Android's private app storage. Optional diagnostic emails are sent through the email service you choose. No method of storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, particularly on a compromised or rooted device.
Emula is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
This policy may be updated when Emula's functionality or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
