To put it simply, math can be challenging. That is something I understand. I am attune with the foundational gaps that often exist and make class topics more difficult for students. Knowing the progression and connection of skills and topics between grade levels allows me to best assist students in closing those gaps to find success. As an educator, I have an access to an immense amount of resources to support your child. From closing gaps, to covering class material, completing homework, studying for assessments, and supplementing material for both support and increased rigor, I am equipped to help your child achieve their goals.
The college entrance process is extremely daunting. Take the college entrance exams. Both the SAT and ACT have undergone major changes and it can be even more difficult to decide which test is the best fit for you. Then, it's time to prepare. Too many students spend countless hours taking an endless number of practice tests...only to be disappointed that there was no significant impact on their score! In addition to using practice tests, my ACT/SAT sessions prioritize strengthening test-taking strategies and content knowledge. I utilize resources that directly correspond with that test and individualize sessions to be most beneficial to you.
When it comes to applying to college, the process can seem overwhelming and endless. From deciding on a major to picking schools, determining costs, submitting applications, and finding scholarships, the whole thing can become time consuming, confusing, and frustrating.
We often think that high school guidance counselors can sufficiently help with this. When I applied for college, my guidance counselor gave me a list of schools to apply to after meeting with me just once. I felt fortunate because I knew I wanted to study education and hopefully play lacrosse. When I received a list of schools from her, I realized that some on the list did not even offer a major in education. We never discussed location, costs, scholarships, or even why those schools were the best choices for me. I felt as if I were back at square one and did not know where to start. My goal now is to make sure that no student or family feels like they are at square one.
I aim to identify what is truly important to you when choosing a college and use a plethora of resources to put together a comprehensive list of which schools meet those needs while leading to a degree you can be more than proud of. With your input, we will revise that list until you feel excited about the schools you have chosen. I will help you stay on top of the application process and can assist in finding the extremely specific, and often limiting, world of scholarships. With the transfer rate increasing at a surprising rate, my goal is to set you up to find four years of success at a school you love.
