Dr. Nibagani Naresh
Dr. Nibagani Naresh is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Materials Discovery, University College London, since March 2024, working with Associate Professor Dr. Buddha Deka Boruah. He earned his Ph.D. from Pondicherry University in 2020 and previously completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Gyeongsang National University, South Korea. His research centres on advanced nanomaterials, 3D micro-electrodes, on-chip micro energy storage systems, aqueous zinc-based batteries, and lithium-ion technologies. He has published 39 peer-reviewed papers in journals such as Nano Letters, ACS Nano, and Advanced Functional Materials, with over 798 citations (h-index: 17).

Dr. Monojit Mondal, MSCA Fellow
Monojit Mondal is a postdoctoral researcher with over 11 years of experience in energy storage, nanoscience, and nanotechnology. He obtained his PhD from the School of Nano Science and Technology at IIT Kharagpur, where he developed advanced nanomaterials and nanocomposites for supercapacitor applications. He previously worked as a Research Assistant at IIT Kharagpur and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Industrial Electronics, University of Southern Denmark. He is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow (MSCA-2024) at the Institute of Materials Discovery, UCL, working on flexible zinc-ion and zinc-halogen batteries with enhanced redox kinetics. His research focuses on transition-metal oxide and sulfide composites, polymer-inorganic hybrid electrodes, and advanced electrochemical characterisation.

Dr. Mayank Singh, NIF Fellow
Dr. Mayank Kumar Singh is a postdoctoral researcher with over a decade of expertise in materials science and electrochemical energy storage. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, where he worked on Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), metal oxides, and sulfide composites for supercapacitors. He later received a Translational Research Fellowship at the same institute, focusing on hybrid sodium-ion capacitors. He is currently a Newton International Fellow (NIF-2025) at the Institute of Materials Discovery, University College London, working on printed microelectrodes and tandem catalyst engineering for flexible on-chip Zn-S microbatteries. He has 22 publications, one book chapter, an Indian patent filed, and over 590 citations (H-index: 13).

Dr. Swapnil Nardekar, MSCA Fellow
Dr. Swapnil earned his MSc in Physics in 2016 from Savitribai Phule University, Pune, India. He began his research career as a Junior Research Fellow at CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune. He completed his PhD in 2022 at Jeju National University, Republic of Korea, under the Brain Korea-21 Fellowship, and received the Best Thesis Award from the Korean Mechanical Engineering Society. He was subsequently awarded a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (2023-2026) from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF-Korea), where he conducted independent research as a Principal Investigator. During this period, he also served as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering. Recently, he was awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship (2026) at UCL. At the Institute for Materials Discovery, within the Energy Materials and Storage Systems group, his research will focus on integrated autonomous µgrid systems combining DC energy harvesting with on-chip storage technologies for next-generation wearable and microelectronic technologies.

Dr. Md. Aftabuzzaman, MSCA Fellow
Dr. Md Aftabuzzaman has been working as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Materials Discovery, University College London, since September 2026, under the supervision of Dr. Buddha Deka Boruah. He received his PhD in Materials Chemistry in 2023 from Korea University. Following his graduation, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Korea University and at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. He later joined the Department of Chemistry at Rajshahi University, Bangladesh, as an Assistant Professor. His research focuses on solar batteries and the development of nanostructured materials for next-generation energy conversion and storage devices.
