Michelle Dahomey Rattigan an epitome of brotherly love, inclusion, fairness and a spirited force that exhumes passion for quality, respect and enjoyment, hails from the island of Jamaica and is recognized as an International Reggae sensation. This international reggae artist and a lover of people, through her music and diversity, sends positivity with a hope that it will infuse the heart, mind, body and soul beyond boundaries. When she performs, she ignites the “passion of the Empress – fierce” with permeated words set to inspire and empower. For her, it is never about generating a vibe to allow the music and mystical energies to heal and nurture. Her songs are self-written and therefore speak her language and evoke her passion as a humanitarian. She brings the stage to life riveting performances with not only music but also within her is an innate gift as a dancer extraordinaire which was perfected at the university level. She grew up in a home where music was essential and from an early age developed a passion for both art forms. Throughout her career she was exposed to a variety of music such as cultural roots reggae, Motown, inspirational music, classical, Rock among others.
Dahomey prides herself a woman of virtue and humanitarian which propelled her to volunteer for the Teen Mothers program in her city. In 2006 she got involved with The Cultural Dance Troupe of the West Indies, Hartford, CT specializing in modern, Folk, African, classical and various cultural dances. In 2009 she performed at Bushnell Theater, where she took part in dance drama, as well as vocalist for African drum percussions. With decisions to pursue her singing career Dahomey started as a lead singer in Fresh Reggae Band. While experiencing some disappointing loss she reinvented herself by starting her own production label, “Empress D. Productions LLC”. She then promoted her own reggae show and titled it “Roots Rock Reggae Explosion.” Her career has been taking off since the release of her album “Empowered” under her own label.
Dahomey has shared the stage with artist such as Yellow Man, The Melodians, and CoCo Tea, to name a few. She has been inspired by Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, P.P. Arnold and endeavor to be the best singer and songwriter. At this present time Dahomey is known to be one of the only Reggae female artis in the music industry to own a Production. She is a producer, promoter, consultant, manager, and entrepreneur. Her perseverance, motivation and drive helped her to overcome many challenges. Dahomey is the baby girl who was destined to become a strong woman and musical genius. A woman of much strength, virtue, talented and filled with much inspiration.
