Creativity belongs to everyone, no matter who you are or what you do. By day, I work in cybersecurity and I also have written books on cybercrime, but art is where I reconnect with curiosity, calm, and imagination. My art celebrates whimsy, coziness, nature, wonderment, and the quiet comfort of books. Staying in touch with, protecting, and showcasing the natural world around us is essential, and.offers an antidote to toxicity and burnout.
Other than when I am drawing cartoons or ilustrations, I work primarily in acrylic, with watercolor and mixed media woven throughout my practice. My style when painting with acrylics is vibrant, and impressionistic with a focus on bold colours, vivid contrasts, and dynamic expressive brushstrokes. I often have an abstract approach to the background and focus on the details of the foreground and main subject of the piece. I use thick, textured paint, often mixing it with an impasto medium so when I use a palette knife for extra texture the paint holds the marks to add dimension for added depth and energy. I tend to add a touch of whimsy in my depictions of nature, bringing organic forms to life with texture and movement. I want my art to evoke an atmosphere, a feeling, not just be a picture.

Lighthouses have a vital purpose to protect ships from rocks and other hazards, and they also seem whimsical parts of a seascape, with many a folk lore story inspired by them. The stoic lighthouse remains unmoved while the wind driven waves crash on the rocks beneath it, showing strength.
Title - Waterlily in the rain
Medium - Acrylic and impasto on canvas board
Size of Original – A4 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 in, 210 x 297 mm
Year – 2026
Description - Inspired by water lilies in a murky, silty rainstrewn pond, I wnated to create an atmosphere of quiet resilience in the face of hardship. The waterlily, floating in a murky pond beneath falling rain, represents that resilience in its ability to rise and bloom in the face of uncertainty and shadow. I aimed to depict the volatility of the surrounding water as well as the serenity at the flower's core by layering textured acrylic and emotive brushwork. The juxtaposition between dark and light tones represents the tension between struggle and rejuvenation. Each brushstroke indicates persistence, or the action of enduring forces that shape but do not break. The flower remains alive and undamaged in spirit, a sign of hope that endures movement and storm.
