Music education, particularly classical music genre, has been evidently in decline in the U.S. 

• A national study found: 3.6 million U.S. students do not have access to music education in school; (AEDP)

• Nearly 30% of middle schools offer no music learning opportunities. (scholarly Publishing Collective) 

• Funding for arts (including music) represents just 1–2% of total public school budgets, with some states allocating under $10 per student per year. (NAMM Foundation) 

• U.S. public schools spend over $16,000 per student per year overall, meaning arts funding represents a very small share of total education spending. (National Center for Education Statistics) 

• Music education graduates declined by about 14% in the past decade. (NFHS)

One of our missions at Empowering Woodwinds is to educate, advocate and empower the public on music education and inspire younger generations to be a voice for improving the inclusion of music in our education system.
