Empowering Immigrant Women in Pocatello is a community group committed to helping and empowering refugee and immigrant women in Pocatello, Idaho. Our aim is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where refugees and immigrants can find the resources and assistance they need to integrate and thrive in their new community. We work with local organizations and volunteers to educational monthly gathering and other services that help refugees and immigrants build a better future for themselves and their families.

Our Founder

Andrea Soleta Schmutz

I moved to America to attend a university when I was only 19. I left my family, culture, and friends in the Philippines. I was apprehensive at first, but I knew that I had to pursue higher learning to prepare myself for the future. I knew how important it is to have a formal education to add to my background in this competitive world. I believe that gaining a formal education will help immigrant women prepare for whatever circumstances they may find themselves in. I am currently an adjunct faculty for a large university teaching Political Science and International Business classes.
