About Me: My name is Riley O'Day, I am a senior in high school, and I have been a Girl Scout in Troop 3077 for 12 years. I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship, and I love creating and selling products at markets such as the one I’m hosting. I know I would’ve appreciated an opportunity to learn more about the different aspects of business. Through my project, I hope to inspire girls to take an interest in entrepreneurship and even inspire some to pursue a business career.

About the Market: I will be hosting a mini-maker market on March 29, 2025. It will be in San Diego, but the exact location is being finalized. This event is an opportunity for young girls to experiment with selling their products. Before the market, there will be workshops that will provide business advice and will also be an opportunity for girls to ask questions about starting their businesses. Independently, they will create their business and prepare products to sell. On the day of the event, participants will bring all necessary materials to sell their products. They will have a short reflection packet at the end of the event where they can reflect on what they’ve taken away from the opportunity. Using this website and advice from optional workshops, participants will learn the basics of business and entrepreneurship.
A parent must attend the optional workshop and the market with the participant. Participants do not have to be Girl Scouts!
This project aims to increase the number of women in business, so the intended participants in the mini-market are elementary, middle school, and high school girls. Participants must be under the age of 18. Email rileyoday2007@gmail.com for any questions.
If you have registered for the mini market (form linked on home page), use this website as well as any other sources to learn some business basics. Running a business can be a complicated topic, so participants are encouraged to work with their parents/guardians and do their research during the process of planning out their business and creating their products.
Participants (with a parent) are encouraged to attend a workshop for extra guidance. It is not required to attend a workshop to participate in the market, nor is it necessary to stay for the entire duration. Workshops will provide guidance for participants to help with their business. It is important to note that this project is meant for girls to learn about business and entrepreneurship. While a parent/guardian is required to attend workshops and the market along with their participant, they are encouraged to let the participant lead the business to allow them to learn the most they can from this experience.
Participants can keep all the profits from their business! I know some middle school students need to pay for the upcoming East Coast trip, and this is an awesome way to get started making a little money.
