The Empowered Teens Coalition was first founded in 2013, with the creation of the Chimacum Empowered Teens Coalition. Port Townsend's ETC was founded in 2018 and Quilcene/Brinnon ETC in 2021.
Each Coalition is led by members of community organizations, parents, and youth.
Each member:
Lends their diverse perspective and helps to guide the coalition's actions
Attends coalition meetings and helps support coalition events and trainings
Actively participates in prevention activities and strategies
Helps the coalition monitor the community with methods like the Healthy Youth Survey
Each prevention coalition is funded through a Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) grant provided by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA).
